Leopards to host SWD Eagirls in First Division final

A new champion will be crowned in the Women’s First Division when the Leopards host the SWD Eagirls in the final at Olën Park in Potchefstroom on Saturday, 30 July. Kick-off is scheduled for 14h00 between the two group-winners following a tough single round of pool action.

Both teams were unbeaten in their pool games and accumulated a full-house of 15 log points, with the Eagirls booking their place in the final on Saturday with a 24-10 win over the Cheetahs at Rosemoor Stadium in George.

The SWD team, who beat the Griffons by 68-0 in their penultimate clash, outscored their visitors by four tries to two to secure their unbeaten status and progress to the final. They also beat Griquas and scored 149 points in their three pool matches, only conceding 15.

The Leopards were not in action last weekend, but finished their pool encounters with a massive 90-0 over the Pumas on 16 July, scoring 14 tries in the process. The team from North-West also beat Limpopo Blue Bulls and the Valke, stacking up 172 points in their run, only conceding 22.
