“Rugby and braai go together like tackles and tries, and we’re delighted to welcome Freddy Hirsch into our family of partners,” said Rian Oberholzer, CEO of SA Rugby.
“This is an exciting new partnership that will allow us to bring together two of South Africans’ favourite pastimes in a way never seen before.
“What would a Springbok Test be without braai fires around the stadium? What would a day of schools’ rugby be without a boerewors roll? By partnering with Freddy Hirsch, with Oom Freddy’s Legacy Braai Spice, we now really have a reason to light the fire.”
With Freddy Hirsch’s involvement in schools’ rugby, club rugby and SA Rugby’s annual festival of Youth Weeks, the company will be providing support at all levels of the game across the country.
This includes providing boerewors rolls and hamburgers, as well as droëwors and biltong packs to the players at the U18 Craven Week in George, in the first week of July.
Clive Moore, Group Marketing Head for Freddy Hirsch, said: “As three-time world champions, the Boks have been a long-time force in international rugby, and Freddy Hirsch spices and seasonings have been used around South Africa since 1956, bringing together two of the nation’s most popular brands.”
Furthermore, supporters at the Boks’ local Tests are in for a treat with the launch of a few mouth-watering eats such as boerewors rolls and hot dogs, with a number of Springboks involved in the process of selecting and mixing the spices, and choosing the ingredients, with the help of Freddy Hirsh.
