The Fidelity ADT Lions dethroned the Vodacom Bulls as captains of the SA Rugby Under-19 Cup on Friday, 18 October, winning a nail-biting final by 43-41 in Pretoria. The men from Pretoria were the champions in the last three seasons, but were pipped at the post by their Gauteng neighbours. DHL Western Province, the Hollywoodbets Sharks, Toyota Cheetahs and Leopards U19 sides also competed over a single round of matches that started at the end of August.
