SA RUGBY UNDER-21 SHIELD

Sanlam Boland were crowned champions of the SA Rugby U21 Shield after a pulsating final against the Griffons in Cerers. Nine provincial teams were divided into two sections - South comprising of Boland, Border, Eastern Province and SWD; and North, featuring the Pumas (2023 champions), Griffons, Griquas, Valke and Limpopo. Teams in the South Section played three home and three away matches (six in total) and in the North a single round (four in total). At the conclusion of the league phase, the two teams with the highest number of log points contested the semi-finals within their sections, and the two winners progressed to the final.

Pumas go top as SA Cup top four race heats up

The Airlink Pumas broke Suzuki Griquas’ remarkable unbeaten run in the SA Cup with a close-fought 39-35 win in Nelspruit on Friday evening to move to the top of the standings after the seventh round, while there were valuable victories for the Toyota Cheetahs, Sanlam Boland Kavaliers and NovaVit Griffons, who all strengthened their positions in the race for Carling Currie Cup Premier Division qualification.
